Checking SKS headspace?

I am curious about headspace and the SKS. Does one need to check headspace on these? I have a friend with a Norinco SKS and he is worried about it. Also, how would one check the head space on these rifles? I am assuming it is more complicated than checking a Mosin.

they have a very robust locking mechanism excessive headspace is unlikely if the bolt matches the receiver

The headspace gauges are pretty expensive for 7.62x39. Brownells sells a set of go/no go gauges for $67, I found this field gauge for only $32.50 http://www.tothtool.com/762x39-CIP-F...auge_p_20.html. The field gauge should be enough to tell you if it's safe or not.
