Hi guys,
I have had a few German firearms with bring-back papers - would be interested to see the Vietnam war bring-back papers or documents with VN war rifles - seen a few using google search obviously.
There seem to be many bring-back Chinese/Romanian SKS's without import marks and with matching numbers for sale as VN bring-backs - very few with papers -
It is a fascinating field to collect in - judging by the price probably a good one to get into.
What details are you guys looking for to define a VN bring-back, if there are no papers?
The trigger guard is interesting on that lower one Saigon.
I like the SKS on GB right now that has the award placard on the stock to the Air Force Advisory group.
There was a VC 1911 with a copy-slide in 7.62tok for sale for the longest time - interesting stuff.Pitfighter.

Those are two nice NVA rifles... The "blond" is especially nice... In fact it's the nicest one I've ever seen... The battle damage is somewhat common for these...Most of these NVA made rifles saw very heavy use, and show the effects of long term jungle exposure...
For those who are not familiar with the NVA made rifles the first two digits of the serial number indicate the year of manufacture. The remaining numbers are the number of rifles manufactured during that year...
Mine also has battle damage to it's stock and bayonet and sling.

Pit...
Here are a few pic's of my Chinese SKS and it's Vietnam "capture papers"..I'm pretty sure it came from a "cache" as it's basically unused...made in 1966.

Thank you for adding on to the thread SVT-40 -
Pit - Here is the most complete set of bring back documents from Vietnam I've ever seen -
This gentleman brought back ammo too - It didn't hurt the he was the Deputy Provost Marshall either - I am honor to call him a friend -
Also look at the date of the documents - 20th of March 1973 - The last US troops to leave Vietnnam was 9 days later -
Typical DD603 form -

NVA script for used on the Ho Chi Minh trail -

Chinese ammo from the Ho Chi Minh trail - Check out the date stamp

Tokarev ammo from the Ho Chi Minh trail - Again look at the date stamp -

This is a phenomenal thread - and I am in pain - because this is something that really could be of great interest and financial danger to me.
Thank you, for posting those awesome examples of bring back paperwork -
The serial number data is good, too.
Chinese ammo from the Ho Chi Minh trail - very cool - I am sure you know about Project Eldest Son - be careful of found ammo
I spent about three years on a script about the early days of SOG, and really enjoyed the research, but didn't think much about where the weapons from the war were now - innate self protection probably.
(I've heard of bring-back NFA registered Ak's sell for $30k plus)
That chipped bayonet and creased fore-guard tell of a close call, SVT!
Are those your notes? - bringing down a chopper with a bolt action rifle - great primary evidence.
Great thread - I am really pleased you started it, Saigon.Last edited by pitfighter; 12-16-2013, 9:21 PM.Pitfighter.

The ammo was in a huge weapons cache - The owner brought back 300 rounds of 7.62x39 and 200 rounds ot 7.62x25 -
He actually shot most of them and gave me the few he had left -
