    mosin guys, please help

I just got 3 mosins from an on-line source. First is a 1942 ex pe sniper. All matching, clean stock very good bore. The other two are where I'm confused. One is a 1929 izzy hex, and a 1935 izzy hex. I was on 7.62x54r.net and I looked at the rarity of the two hex mosins. I dont see anything for a 1929 izzy hex, and the 1935 is 5 of 10. What is the deal with the 2 hex mosins?

Well, the 1929 used to be a M91 Dragoon rifle, but in 1930 many of them were reworked into the 91/30 configuration.

I believe 1935 was the last year of production for Izhevsk hexagonal recievers.

You 1929 is an updated dragoon also known as an ex dragoon. it is a 4 on that scale. congrats on the 1935 izvevsk hex those are rather uncommon.

I am sure others will chime in.. don't believe all the ratings on that chart. it hasn't been updated in a long time

I paid more for the ex sniper thinking i would keep that one, give the other two as Christmas presents. i'm starting to think maybe i need to get two more to give as presents.

It's pretty interesting the way they reworked these things. You should also always take a look at the actual receiver date - it's on the tang when you take it off, you're looking at the barrel date. Sometimes you'll get some 1890s receiver or whatever.

Thanks for the advice, I''ve owned a few mosins, but they were all what I would consider run of the mill. I will begin the adventure of trying to clean three mosins tonight. Should be fun.... Should have pictures tomorrow

42 PE is the rarest of the three. All are nice ones though.

All confusion can be alleviated by picking up a can of ammo and taking them out to bark a little fire. Nice guns!
