Use the US screws. If someone calls you out, put them in charge of finding the correct replacements!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

I went to the hardware store to look at the wood screws. I found screws that are the same length, but they are skinnier than the Chinese/Russian screws; so I don't know if they would work ;o

The bullets won't go as fast with improper butt plate screws.

so the thinner screws should work then correct? maybe I should try finding some around the house and see if those work

what do you mean by "thinner" -- if the diameter of the "screw" portion of the screw is smaller, they will not hold -
Possibly you could use a slightly smaller diameter if it is longer -about three threads longer than the existing hole --

the screws that I found at the hardware store are of a smaller diameter than the ones on my other sks's. I might try using a longer screw and see what happens, thanks for the tip

lol, real commie screws can be found in sacramento or D.C. these days i'm sure. if you can find "thinner" ones that have a correct-looking head, just throw a toothpick or two in the screw holes so they grab ok.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.
