I been a very good boy and not bought anything for a while (getting caught up financially).

Now for the problem
When I cycle the bolt forward and lock it. It won't fire. The bolt is cocked, but the bolt stop will not release down enough to release the bolt firing pin.
If I take the bolt out and put it into another M44, it works just fine.
If I take the bolt out of a M44 that I know works and put it into the rifle It will not fire either.
So I guess it is in the rifle and not the bolt. When I look into the receivers from the rear the two rifle (with the bolts removed) they look identical. If I work the triggers they "look" the same, but there must be something going on there.
I discovered if I close the bolt and pull the trigger and grab the "cocking piece" and raise it up just a little on the rear while holding the trigger, it fires. It seems like the trigger spring/bolt stop is too far up in the bolt?
After taking the barrel out of the stock and putting the bolt back into the receiver, it works fine (out of the stock).
I put it all back together and it now fires about 1/2 the time correctly.
On the "stop/sear/trigger spring", the part that sets in the bolt to keep it from firing is a little "rough" compared to my other Mosins. The "edge is a little rough. I wish I could take a picture. But it don't seem horrible.
When it is back together, the trigger hits the back of the trigger guard before firing. If it don't fire the first time, if you let go of the trigger and pull it again, it will fire. My other M44's and M38 has a gap left between the trigger guard and the trigger at the "fire" point.
I'm wondering if the trigger group is worn out or too rough? It is an all matching gun EXCEPT the bolt. The bolt looks like a newer bolt for sure. It has been around the track a few times since then!
I wonder if I remove the trigger parts from one of my other M44 and swap them and see what happens. If it is those parts I can order new ones.
Any ideas?
