    Mosin Bolt issue

Hi Guys, I have recently purchased a Mosin M44 to use it as a beater/shooter. The bolt lock up on the rifile is loose, I mean when you push the bolt into battery and lock it, its very easy to push the handle/knob up.
    What could be the reason?

    Please advice.

    thanks

The handle/knob you use to push the bolt body forward and push down to cock and lock. Once handle is pushed forward and down to the right, I can push the handle up with very little pressure.

      thanks

Could be the locking lugs are getting worn.

Sorry for asking such a silly question, locking lugs are on the bolt body or the rifle?

          thanks

On the bolt. They lock into the recesses cut into the receiver when the bolt is closed.

When its cycled into battery and then you open its easier because its already been cocked. Less friction to overcome.

Thats one thing that helps with sticky bolt. Pulling the cocking piece to cocked position makes it easier to open a sticking bolt.
                ^this.

i would shoot it first, most mosins have the opposite problem. almost need a hammer to operate the action. it is a sloppy designed rifle. made to work in mud and 30 below zero. i bet it works fine.

Another fine example of Ivan's precision machine skills!

When you pull the trigger, is it just as easy to open?

I think it's little tighter, I will check once I bring it home.

                          thanks

Have you felt other mosins? Yours might be normal and you're just expecting it to be tougher?
