SVT-40s abound in Canada. They would be that same price here too if it weren't for stupid laws that stopped the import of these rifles. All of their rifles are blocked to only five rounds so at least we get a little more mag capacity in ours.

Checking Canadian gun deals on the web is a sure way to cause yourself frustration. The Canadian import laws make more sense than those here but the restrictions on owning guns is more onerous.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

Don't hate on Canada too much. Pretty soon they will be more American then America.

I was up visiting my brother in Canuckistan, and he has a very impressive collection of assorted Russian rifles...

SVTs are a favorite of his, and he gave me a lecture re: all his variants - I have to admit not really following much of the conversation.

But we did drag out his 'beater' SVT...

...and ran ~800 rounds through it over 2 days. Lots of fun! Great rifle to shoot.

While I was up there, we also popped into a gunstore, where he decided to buy one of these...

This would be an NFA item here, but in Canada it was a 10 minute-and-walk-out-the-door-with-it purchase: shorty bolt action 22Mag, ~$250.

                      Yeah...

Last time I saw one of these Norincos for sale in the US 10 years ago it was ~$500. Pretty nicely done CZ 452 copy in a K98k style stock.

$189 at this vendor but I've seen them on sale in Canada for $110.
