SKS triangle

Just had a discussion about the triangle stamp, what is the difference between one stamped with 26 inside the triangle and one without that number, just the triangle, also on the one I have I don't see any Chinese marking
On the side of the barrel I see importer stamping m56 china
We were not sure if this is still a military issue or the late export production
It is one from Classic which I purchased recently
Please enlighten me on this stamping issue

There are no "Chinese" markings on any barrel.....

The factory 26 rifle are identified by the 26 in a triangle...

I don't believe I've ever seen a Chinese rifle with just a triangle....

If you have one please post some clear pic's...

All Chinese SKS rifles were produced in "military" arsenals... Some were later imported into the US. There is no functional difference, although some markings may be different.

If' it's from "Classic" it's a early rifle.

I agree with svt-40

if is a true Chinese sks it will have 3 Chinese markings in front of the serial # on the receiver
i do find it odd the there is no triangle stamp though, it could be an early Chinese sks that had serial numbers only (Up to six digits) and no Arsenal stamp.

Factory 26 was the original SKS producer in China. They produced the very first "Sino-Soviet" SKS models. Near identical to Russian SKS. Factory 26 produced SKS rifles until 1980. That said, not all rifles that came from the factory were Sino-Soviet, and in fact most were not. The Chinese quickly modified the design to cut down manufacturing costs. (Pinned barrels, Spike Bayos, gas tube changes, etc, etc)

Since factory 26 stopped manufacturing rifles in 1980, right around the time the Chinese dropped the SKS and AK as their service weapon. One could assume that all rifles manufactured in that factory were initially destined for military use. But who can say for sure?

That being said, as far as I understand, all of the Chinese SKS that Classic is offering are previous military weapons. But understand, that just because it's not factory 26, it could still be a true military issue. As China quickly expanded their manufacturing to other factories for both military and export.

Looks like it could say /26\. They're a little hard to see with how the numbers are squished in there

Typical Sino Soviet markings.....It is a 26 inside the triangle.....
