...I think I'll be completely fine not getting them: Look at the guy to the far right.

After the CMP Garands are gone, people will be darn glad to get their hands on these, rebarrel, replace other parts as necessary, and offer them with varying levels of refinish. A "new normal" price for Garands will be established.

Except that the Koreans want $450-$500 a piece for these as they stand: basically, buy an M1 now if you want one.

aT A gun show, gun store, pawn shop the starting price on a plain M1 is over 1200 dollars. most people never herd of the CMP or CaLGUNS. real world retail at the turners in Azusa was 1,500. they will get it. a pawn shop in Azusa wanted 1,200 for a m1.

My father bought one of those in 1985. Paid $300 for it at a Dept. Store, no 10 day wait those days. The M1 never did shoot worth a hoot so we bought a new barrel replacement. Cost with gunsmithing was another $300. Even then it would not fuction right, it kept ejecting the clip on the 5th round fired. Oh once in while it would fire Eight before ejecting the clip, but not often. Finally got tired of it and sold it for a song.

Does that mean the op rod spring needs to be changed?

I couldn't understand why everyone was so excited about these M-1 rifles that have been used by decades of basic trainees. the muzzles are probably egg-shaped from vigorous cleaning with jointed steel cleaning rods by recruits. Maybe they'll arrive as parts sets instead.

Eh, stop thinking about the barrels. It's the receivers that matter.

Yep receivers and the rest of the parts. Barrels & stocks are easily replaced.
