I was amazed when my CMP order for two garands was shipped within two weeks of mailing. The only problem was I anticipated the order shipping after 1/1/14 and had it shipped to an FFL. When it arrived today, the guy would not give me my rifles. He had no idea what CMP was and said he required all the documents needed for a modern firearm transfer. He didn't care that they sent him a document saying they exempt from FFL transfer. I'm stuck, any ideas?

they are only exempt if CMP sent them directly to you. since you involved an FFL in the deal, now that they have logged them into their bound book, the only way for them to give them to you is for you to DROS them and wait 10-days. The FFL can charge whatever fees he wishes to do the transfer and sales tax might attach to the transfer as well.Jack
Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Tell him to ship them back, then you contact the CMP and have them shipped directly to you. What you should have done in the first place.Comment
