Which would you get?

My girlfriend asked what I want for Xmas! She wants a nice necklace which means I won't feel guilty asking for either an sks or a mosin. Just curious which one is more fun to shoot, and what the perks of either one is. How available is 7.62x54 ammo for the mosin?

I currently only have a 22lr bolt and a 45/70 marlin for rifles.

I have several Mosins' all ready (M44/91-30 Lam/M39) so a SKS would be a nice addition to my humble collection

IMO,Mosin is more fun to shoot.
But I rather have nice Russian SKS.

the supply of cheap mosins will be with us for a while. not so the SKS. both shoot cheap ammo. the GF will like shooting the SKS with the softer kick and simi auto feature. i like them both equal.

I have both and both are fun to shoot! If I could only have one it would be the SKS.

I had my now wife with me shooting an sks in dusk. The flames coming out if the bolt scared her off.

Shes more of a revevoler and 10/22 shooter

Btw, the sks cost twice the amount of a standard mosin mosin nagant.

Mosin is the cheaper of the 2 and I think the ammo for a Mosin is slightly cheaper as well

SKS all the way. Get them while you can for a reasonable price.

I have nothing against the Mosin rifles, but the SKS is a great semi-auto rifle that is a ton of fun to shoot and will eat anything you feed it. You would be hard pressed to take it to the range and not have a huge smile on your face as you blast away. 7.62x39 ammo is cheap and it is readily available everywhere.

I would go for the SKS. You can get the Mosin anytime but the SKS is getting harder to find at a reasonable price.
