    Something wrong with this 1903A3?

I have seen this 1903A3 posted on Gun Broker, go unsold, reposted, unsold, reposted again and again.
Anyone see anything wrong with it?

      Doesn't give the barrel condition.
Maybe the reserve is super high.
I didn't see anything obvious in the photos.

I saw that one the other day and considered bidding on it. The reserve may be too high for it to sell though.

To my eye the stock looks like it has been lightly sanded, and stained with a incorrect color stain... The color could be just due to the poor photos... But I would bet someone lightly "improved" the stock....

Compare the "hard" and sharp edges, and the grain in the wood in the below pic's to the GB pic's....

It's sometimes hard to tell unless you can hold the rifle in your hands.... But I would not bid on it sight unseen...

            dingdingding.

One of the previous auctions: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=360406559

Bid up to $805, reserve not met.

The photos kind of suck. Yeah, it is great he took it outside, but the glare from the direct sunlight makes it hard to actually see anything.

One thing I do see, it almost looks like the stock has been sanded. The RA and the FJA stamps look too faint. Look at the stamps on that rifle, and compare it to these:

Look at the box around the FJA stamp on the gunbroker rifle. It looks like the top and bottom of the box are almost gone.

Reserve too high period, and definitely too high for that rifle, in my opinion.

He probably has the reserve set close if not over $1K. I agree too much for that rifle and it's a two groove barrel.

Also, shouldn't the bolt be blued, not Parkerized? I've seen that one a couple of times and avoided it since the price was so high, and the reserve had not been met. Looks very clean, but refinished.

The hidden reserve price is actually one MILLION dollars.

I think the bolt in the auction the OP posted is correct, as it looks blued to me. The photos SVT40 posted do look to be an arsenal reworked 03-A3 with the parkerized bolt... very nice looking rifle by the way.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

Guns being listed and relisted on GB, dozens of times over, is not unusual. I think the listing is free. I poke around for Remington 788s and there's a collection of them on GB starting at about $725.00 each. I suspect someone is waiting for a motivated but not so knowledgable buyer to strike.

GB doesn't charge the seller unless it sells, or unless you add 'extras' such as photos, bold font, showcase, etc.

A LGS has 2 on consignment - 1 is a Smith Corona. Asking $900 each
Both look well worn but don't seem to be refurbished in any way.

Yeah, my bad... I've looked at so many as you know I'm on the hunt also, and thought the one SVT-40 posted was the same as the GB ad. I'm not sure if that other picture is of one that was recently posted on GB? I recall seeing one like it with the Park'd bolt and a beautifully finished stock just like it.

I've seen many listed recently that we're just priced too high to get a successful sale.
