    Czech VZ 52/57

Every time I bring my VZ 52/57 to the range. it gets lots of questions. When they learn it shoots 7.62x39, instead of 7.62x45 they ask "where can I find one."

Not priced as a "steal," and it appears to have been repainted, but here's a chance to have one financed if you've ever wanted one. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=373410666

It seems VZ52/57's are available for the right price. It's too bad someone already got this one:

Simpson Limited - Explore our trusted selection of antique and modern firearms, collectibles, and accessories. Family-owned since 1962.

They're definitely not cheap but in a few years they'll seem cheap.

Funny you mention that, the VZ52 does share traits from both rifles. It also has some similarities to a Garand.

The 7.62x39mm Vz 52 / 57 are really neat little rifles. They are surprisingly heavy for their size and pretty accurate. The rifle below has not been fired since it came out of it's sealed shipping crate (I was there when the seal was cut) ), and is as close to new as possible.

The rifle in the Gunbroker link posted by the O/P, has gone through a refurb at a Czech military arsenal. The grey paint is a Cz refurb thing...

That is a beautiful example of a rifle that is extremely ugly from a design standpoint. Have you shot one of the same besides this one SVT?

I've never heard of it either, glad I'm in good company.

Well said. It is an ugly rifle, but it does seem kind of cool too. Not sure why, but I kind of like it.

It is one of the ugliest rifles around...But it's kind of "ugly pretty".

Yup, I had another shooter for a few years....I ended up trading that rifle to another collector for a couple other rifles. This one will remain unfired.

I also have shot the Vz 52 in the 7.62x45mm vz cartridge... They handled in a similar fashion... Just a bit more recoil to the Vz 52...

Check out this link to many great pics of other Cz 52 and Cz 52 / 57 rifles, ammo and accessories.

I used to have one in 7.62x45. It was actually my first rifle purchase when I was younger. It was definitely used quite a bit but still shot well when I could find and afford ammo for it. It loved to stick the lacquered steel cases in the chamber if you shot it rapidly. Once my ammo supplier ran dry of the ammo I put it on consignment and made all the money I paid for it and the ammo I shot. I wish I had the 7.62x39 chambered version as I would probably still own it today.
