    Shipping Question

I have a Pietta 1858 Remington copy with some accessories that I am going to list for sale in the Markeplace.

I know that this can be a cash and carry transaction with no FFL involved and that I can freely ship the pistol to any non-prohibited person.

Are there any restrictions on shipping? Is it legal to ship USPS? Or am I limited to UPS and FedEx?

    Thanks.

At the beginning of 2013 the USPS updated their firearm shipping rules. They are now more complicated and some sections are vague and even contradictory. For instance, the rules now say that C&R FFLs can ship C&R handguns, but only if the C&R handguns are antiques. This makes no sense because C&R handguns can't be antiques.

But to answer your question, antique handguns like your Pietta 1858 Remington copy can no longer be mailed by regular Joe's. You can ship it ground service through UPS or FedEx Ground though since it is still not considered a firearm by them. They use the GCA definitions of firearm and handfun and not the USPS definitions.

Thanks for the response.... I figured that there was a good chance the P.O. had probably convoluted the issue beyond reason.
