Finally got some pics and took the Lee Speed to the range. When I got it the barrel was very dark, even after running a patch through in the store, but the rifling looked fairly good. So I took it out and fired 20 rounds pretty fast at the bank behind the targets, then cleaned it with Hoppes No.9 on patches and used a bore snake right away on the hot barrel. Amazing results. Thereafter I shot ten rounds at the 100 yard target (6 inch black). The sights are fixed, being the flip up pre set distance variety and are calibrated for cordite .303 not modern ammo. The rifle has beautiful engraving all over it, checkering on the stock, and some pitting on one side (If i was selling it I'd saying it would be the sort of pitting you'd get if the officer who had owned it since new for hunting eventually fell in the trenches and the rifle lay on it's side in the mud n blood for a week or two before it was collected by a young Adolf Hitler, who sold it to.... etc etc etc... which is another way of saying i wish it could talk). Once the barrel was cleaned it shot really well for a 115+ year old rifle. I intend to start reloading so will try to get a load that suits it better than S&B commercial ammo. Trying to figure how to add the pics i have.
