    New Yugo M48A

Just picked this up from a fellow Calgunner. Have not had a chance to tear it down yet, it has a decent amount of cosmo seeping out. Is there a way to date this rifle, I think the M48As were made for a pretty good span of years. Looking at the bore, I agree with the seller, I don't think this rifle has ever been fired or if it has been, it was very few rounds. It will look a lot prettier once it is cleaned up. Not pictured is an original leather sling, which I really dig but it sticks out too much to let the rifle fit into my overcrowded safe.

Can't wait to take this one out to shoot!

I have not yet been out their Goex but PM me at least a week or two ahead next time you head out there and we can do that. The real question is, is this Yugo going to ignite my stupid Yugo 50s surplus on strippers (I have like 900 rounds) that my Turk won't? I have a few rounds of M75 too that I can bring in case the Yugos won't go off but I am crossing my fingers that this one will have a robust firing pin spring. I am just getting into reloading too so some projectiles, case trimmer and some dies are in my future for this rifle too.

I sure would like to G-Man but kids, boy scouts, doctor appointments, work and CGSSA activities schedule are dragging me away from that. The sad part is, I have about dozen others that need a cosmo removal party in line ahead of this one. It's sad that one of my life's dreams is a three day weekend with no wife, no kids, no schedule to just tear them all down and CLEAN them so they are purty and shiny. Then I could actually go shoot them all ;-)

that was definitely a nice score at a nice price. I am a big fan of the Yugo Mauser. I just tore down my bent bolt 24/47 yesterday for a decosmo.

down the road we will be looking back on this time as the golden years of being able to find these nice rifles affordably and in mint condition

You bet Bobby, I am very happy with this rifle, I do feel that we are at the tail end of this way of life (affordable C&Rs, ammo and reloading supply availability, being able to have nice places to shoot in California). We will keep on fighting but the battle will never end.

                          Nice M48A!

The muzzle on that has sharp rifling, the stock's patina is perfect.

                            Nice.

                            Capybara,

You should spend a little money, like $8 bucks, on a new Wolf firing pin spring from Midway or another source. I bought mine from Midway but I think you can get them from a lot of different sources. They are made in different strengths. The Mauser standard issue is 19 pounds, and Wolf makes them in 22 and 24 pound springs. Then you can shoot your ammo in either your new to you Yugo, or your old Turkish Mauser. And it is something you can do yourself in only a few minutes. Here is a link
