    Really rough M44...

Stock is pitted/dinged up a lot.
barrel appears to be counterbored. It's too dirty inside to see if the rifling is intact.
Bolt moves freely, but doesn't look terrific.
Nothing special. Not a hex barrel or anything.

It's only $140. Most I've seen online/in the sale section seem to be $250-300...

I already have a 91/30 that shoots super nice, but I've been wanting an m44 to plink/make fireballs with.

I'd suggest a Type 53 instead. The price is about the same, the stock will look just as bad, but the metal and internals are usually quite good. And it has a very nice trigger.

You know, it might have been a type 53. If It is, I should buy?

Not if it's counter bored and the rifling is no good

yeah, hard to say. Suppose I could try stuffing a round down the barrel.

Rifling might be packed with crap.

This the one at Sac Black Rifle? If it is, the bore is what scared me off of that one.

              That's the one.

              Sounds like a pass then.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if the bore was really that god awful or if it was just dirty...still, there's plenty of T53s on the market right now in that price range, so no point taking a gamble on that one.

I got my Type 53 from River City for $180. The stock was terrible, but it was intact without any cracks. The cosmo was already removed and the bluing was about 80-90%. Bore & bolt were clean. Other than a M48 Mauser I got for $200, this is one of the better gun deals.

lots of them are counterbored, that doesn't mean the bore is no good. if you can run a few patches through it to see the rifling, that'll tell the tale. it's probably in fine shape, and if it's a genuine m44, well worth the price.
