Received Type 53 from J&G today

Just received one of the Chinese type 53 Mosin's from J&G. The metal/bore is surprisingly nice, the bolt seems as smooth or smoother than the various Russian ones I have but the stock is atrocious! It's very rough, no finish, looks like it was in a rock tumbler with blood and sand!

Are their any replacement stocks available for these?

AIM, Numrich and Sarco would be where I would check for M44 stocks. Good luck on finding a type 53 stock that isn't thrashed.

I think op is confusing the t53 with the sks t56

This might not be your thing, but I've always wondered how one of those stubby Chinese Mosins would work on an Archangel stock.

The T53s were well used, and show it, they have a lot of character.

I would try and salvage the stock it came with, before I spent $70 replacing the stock on a $99 rifle.

If that is what you wanted, you should have just got a M44, it would have only cost $30 more.

Sounds like it has it where it counts. For $99 bucks, it's a win.

i would like to own one of these but i have no C&R. what baffles me is how some Mosins have nice triggers and others do not. except for FINN mosins all the trigger parts are the same. i can see maybe a slight difference but how can their be a big difference if all the trigger parts are the same. i do believe you i just do not understand. is it just luck or are some made better. supposedly PU snipers have better triggers yet i have never herd about PU sniper trigger parts for sale as better. i know their are aftermarket better parts and FINN.

the trigger on this t53 is way better than the atrocious triggers on my 91/30's (ones a 1927 Hex, the others a 31 round) One of them's gotta be like 14 lb pull!
