recommendatins for m1 scope

Hey guys,

I'm wanting to replace my iron sights on my m1 carbine. I have a John Masen scope mount already and am now looking to put on a scope. Recommendations on what will work with my combo...?

What's your budget and planned usage?

The M1 carbine's not a precision rifle, and a fast, light carbine deserves a fast scope.

I'd look at a red dot/holosight style, or a 1-4x CQB style if you want magnified. Eotech doesn't make a holosight low enough for the M1 carbine, but Bushnell makes the lower profile XLP, though reviews are mixed on it.

For magnified, I bet the Millett DMS-1 would rock on the M1 carbine, if you don't have a huge budget.

I second the small and light approach, I've heard that you can't tighten down that mount much or the plate will strip out, and it loosens with use, again because the mounting plate isn't tough enough. So I've heard.

for my budget, I'd like to keep it under $150... I'm more interested in being able to see what I'm shooting at since precision isn't the m1's strong suit...
