Was able to trouble shoot my T53. Wasn't the bolt, but where the lip of the round seats in the camber. Filed it down and after a fre times the bolt didn't have to be slammed oped to extract. I'm happy

My T56 let me down. 60rnds and prob hit my steel once. No joke

                Sure, blame the tool.

Having the same sticky bolt problem with my M44, might have to take a look at what you did, next time I come out. Did the stick get worse as it got hotter?

I was going to have ThemBastards shoot the SKS just to check, but he started packing up. I even did 10rnds off a gun rest and got no hits. It was just hitting all over the place

And yah. I loaded a single rnd at a time and check for gouging and kept doing that until it was easy to open. It took me 20rnds before it was fixed. I then put another 60rnds through it without any problems. I gave it a workout. Started to sweat cosmo

Had a lot of fun today. Can't remember everyone's names right now but I did enjoy meeting everyone. Hope you guys at the far end of the rifle range enjoyed the Finn M39 Mosin.

Jimja, hope you and your companion enjoyed the Ruger Old Army. Here's a pretty good video on how to load and shoot these cap and ball revolvers:

That guy actually had a lot of very good and informative videos on cap and ball revolvers and is certainly worth a look if you are thinking of buying one of the replicas or the ROA. Also, here's a link to a very good thread on another forum about the same topic:

You do not have to do everything he recommends, but he does give good advice.

I believe Fowler's and Stockade usually keep a decent selection of the Italian made replicas if you like to handle them before you buy. No DROS required on the replicas so you can just pay and walk out the door with it. However, sometimes they have a used ROA in stock and while legally you should be able to just pay for it and walk out, the store policy is that they want you to DROS it.

Or you can just shop online. I got my ROA on gunbroker and had it legally shipped to my doorstep. Got my Uberti 1860 Army replica from an online dealer as well (did not bring that one today). Hope this helps.

Had a great time today and it was nice to meet everyone and start putting screen names and faces together. Thanks to Syntax Error for letting me shoot his SVT40 - that was awesome to shoot.

Great time today, but wish everyone stuck around the range a bit longer! Beetle Bailey and I stuck around till closing, experimenting with different loads on his black powder revolver and testing loads on the chronograph as well, so all-in-all, a productive range day.

@ Enfield: Thanks for letting me shoot your K31 with the sweet GP11 ammo! That ammo is just absolutely pristine. As for the SVT-40, I was just happy that it's working properly now! Anyone who remembers last month knows it was kind of a fiasco to get that thing working, but last month's trip let me narrow down which part needed replacement, and I'm glad it's working properly now. I do have a minor issue of the gas piston unscrewing itself slowly as I use it, letting the gas regulator become loose. Anyone have any ideas how to mitigate this other than to tightly screw the gas piston into the gun?

Would that hold up under the temperatures of the gas piston area? This area gets hit directly by hot gas. The threads themselves might not be, but it would get heat from the piston.

Yes, Syntax Error, Black Majik, and I all stayed until they closed the range to non-members at 4 PM. And yes, I broke 1000 fps with the Ruger Old Army The penalty was a dirtier gun to clean up when I got home, but it's a small price to pay
