culling the herd: Soviet M44 and Egyptian FN49

    Gents,

was thinking of unloading a few things. safe is getting crowded.

i'm thinking of selling a nice blonde soviet m44. great shape, just some slight flaking on the top hand guard. good bore. will come with oiler sling and rubber buttplate (and original buttplate of course too).

the FN49 i'm thinking of selling is a century refurb of an egyptian one. gorgeous perfect new looking presumably refurbed or remade furniture/stock; absolutely nice dark walnut w/ basically no dings. plastic buttplate. sling and bayonet. parkerized barrel and action like all the centurys have. curiously, also a very solid shooter; i was expecting it to be finicky and testy like the svt but she took good yugo 8mm surp just fine (the sniper kind).

based on these descriptions, what would you think 1 and 2 could be sold for at a reasonable price to a fellow Cgunner?

The FN-49 might go $800 to $1200, depending on who you ask. But, you can, perhaps, offer we Calgunners a fair price.

            Probably $200-$250.

Post war M44s are generally nicer, and relatively low production.

They don't have the WW2 history, but the limited production and generally good condition and quality of them are the selling points.

I would start the m44 at 300 and the fn49 at 900. of course both a little high but gives you some room to negotiate. I don't know what you have in them but if you get 250 and 800 you did well and sold for fair prices.(my humble opinion)

Keep the FN49. I would not part with mine ever.

Ditto on keeping the FN49. I sold mine and regretted it ever since. Heck, I even ran back to the store where it was on consignment to get it back but it was already gone.

Wow, like the FN49. Wish I had the funds to buy it from you but I am tapped out, I just realized I have bought 8 C&R rifles and two C&R pistols in the past four months. Same problem, no more room in the safe and no room for a bigger safe.

Sad times....I sold my FN 49 a couple years ago to a Calgunner. Keep it! Those are hard to replace.
