CA #1 in M1 Garand purchases.

    Some good news.

Makes sense like Orest said - we are the most populous state after all, so it would make sense that we would have the largest amount of Garands purchased in a state-by-state basis.

What would be a more comparable and interesting stat are rates, like how many Garands have been purchased per 100,000 people?

You'd have to adjust for per capita. We may have more people, but we have a bunch of anti gun people...

I saw that today, in fact I made it my CMP forum signature. I thought it was pretty cool.

3-4 years ago the Texans got all bent out of shape when they found out they were not the number one CMP customer. One guy had posted that Texas buys the most guns and Orest came back and corrected him.

            California #1.

Again, I think we need to talk about per-capita rates and not just raw numbers; it would stand to reason that the state with the largest population (us) would buy the largest number of guns, but are we the highest gunowning and purchasing state on a per-capita basis? Not so sure at that point....

Well, yeah. Sure, I guess if you want to be logical about it. But we are number one! Don't ask too many questions!

That was a not insignificant factor in my CMP purchase - I wanted a rifle shipped to my front door, dammit!

I wonder how the purchase rate from CA will change (if at all) once long gun registration kicks in.

A standard military service rifle that has a good track record against Commies and Fascist...

Wonder if this makes the U.S. RIFLE CAL. .30 M1 the well regulated arm of the Militia?

Maybe CMP should sue CA for the loss of business after Jan 1 2014. That would be interesting; federally sanctioned organization suing state governmental agency for messing with their program.

Probably just wishful thinking but I can dream, can't I?

% gun ownership within the US, Wyoming leads at 59% and CA is a mere 21%. WY gun murder rate/100k is .9 and CA is 3.4. We need to triple the guns in CA close to WY so we can lower our murder rate to near WY.

CA is 11-12% of the US population, of course we'd be #1 in that, we're #1 in the electoral college, seats in congress, and have the 8th largest economy in the world (was 5th at one time). Its no duh we'd buy more CMP rifles than any other state there is more market then any other state.

What I wantd to know was how many we bought?
