Forgive me C&R Fathers, for I have sinned...

I didn't know any better 15 years ago...Stripped the finish, rasped the stock & did a trigger job...I'm sorry!

I let a few young guys shoot it last night, had to show them how to operate a bolt-gun & aperture sights. Then I took 5 or 6 shots.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

don't think I have to ask which group was yours. I've seen this gun before but forgive me I can't remember what it is. I also will not begrudge your re-buff work, it looks great and seems to shoot just fine. what's there not to like?

No need to ask for forgiveness, Bruce. If you're happy with the gun then there is no sin!

It's still a neat little gun and a piece of history.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

                      Nice shooting too!

it was 15 years ago, most of us didn't know better at that time.
                        you are forgiven.

                        go with gun.

Mossberg 44US if from CMP ... awesome little USGI .22 Cal Trainer rifle you shot before they gave you a M1 Garand. I have a couple and they are great little bolt action rifles ... very accurate. Yours has the upgraded 17A Lyman Globe front sight and the S-100 Micro Click rear sight... Nice ! 44US stocks are available if you wanted to rectore it to original look, they go for about 40 - 60 bucks. I just picked up a Mossberg 144US trainer rifle and I can't wait to take it to the range ... the barrel on it is like a small truck axle LOL.
