Some nice old rifles at Cow Palace gun show

One dealer had 1903 sporter, pretty pricy thought at $4K. I also looked at an old Remington (model 12?) .22 w/ an octogon barrel. I was disapointed to find it had vice marks across the receiver as well as the barrel. I think he wanted $475. Quite a few Mausers too. I didn't buy any guns today, but I did get some Calguns shirts and a hat. I bought a box of 30-06 Frankford Arsenal from 1940.

I like old fodder too. I have a few CN 40 '06 rounds. Want one for the collection?

You can get a pretty nice Sedgley for half that, so it's hard to imagine an '03 sporter being worth $4k. It better be something very special.

It was your basic NRA sporter. Most of that dealer's prices were high.

No thanks, not sure what I'll do with these. First time I've pruchased ammo that was considered "collectible". I had to open the box to see the headstamp. The boxe was unopened, but had a previous price on it which was forcibly removed.

Being currently broke, I forgot about the Show this weekend. Looked at a dozen C&R rifle @ J&R in Livermore last weekend.
Normally I look for C&R "clunkers" I can fix up.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

1903 NRA Sporters were a civilian version of the M1903 made by (the real, original) Springfield Armory. I think it was the only time Springfield Armory made rifles for the civilian market. They had star-gauged barrels (also used in National Match rifles) for accuracy, polished bolts and receiver rails, a Lyman rear sight, and a unique buttplate. They were made in limited numbers and sold only to NRA members. Production was ended after civilian firearms manufacturers complained that the US government was competing with them in the civilian market.

              Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

That yours? Nice rifle. The one at the show had a 1,3mil serial number, same butt plate and site.

I have hundreds of Lake Arsenal 30-06 that I still use when shooting my Garand.
