    yugo Grenade launcher ?

for many years the only way a yugo sks could come into CA was to remove the Grenade launcher. am i right that i see members buying yugo sks with what looks like a grenade launcher attached ? what is the deal.
they cut the launcher off my yugo a long time ago. i bought a 14-1 RH die to re thread it properly and install something legal. darn die cost me 31 bucks. if anybody wants to thread a sks barrel the proper thread let me know.

It's not hard to thread. Just keep the die straight. I could prob do it at work as long as it's a hex die coz then I can use my die handle. We have lots of thread tapping oil. PM me

i have a dye handle but this die od is larger than my handle. i will be super careful doing it by hand. what is a substitute for cutting oil. i have a old can of 3 in 1 oil . and lots of motor oil. i am not a machinist so i will dork along with something oily.

The grenade launcher is still there, but it is rendered inert by spot welding a metal sleeve over it. Both of mine are like that.

For the record, the GL mechanism on these rifles are inert and fully compliant with all laws. I bought one of them over the counter at Big 5 exactly as pictured so they are all good to go. (These are two different rifles)

I will just add that the increased weight and rubber butt pad on the Yugo 59/66 makes it literally one of the softest shooting center fire rifles you will ever shoot. Compared to a shorty wood stocked AK, they don't even feel like the same round.

I don't think that would work. When I picked up mine, I was told that Big 5 was blowing out their remaining SKS inventory. I guess the SKS just became too evil for Big 5's fragile sensibilities.

You might have misunderstood bohoki's post. Big 5 never sold the sleeved grenade launcher as a separate part. They were added to the rifles by the importers (Century, I.O., etc.) before they were sold to Big 5.

I removed the one that looked similar to Bobby's. Mine was one solid piece. I bought this Cal legal GL per https://www.buymilsurp.com/grenade-l...fle-p-163.html a few years ago. To bad they are out of stock. Some people will argue that it is not Cal legal. That's fine. I have the receipt put away if authorities wish to make a big stink.
