I recently acquired one of these little rifles as part of a trade, and finally got to take it out and shoot it over the weekend.
This one is marked US Property, and have several British proof marks. A bit of Googling reveals that they were manufactured here and shipped to Britain as training rifles. Apparently some wandered back after the war, judging by the British proofs on the barrel.
It is an interesting little rifle, and shoots like a house a'fire.
I tested it on our youth range for NRA 50', and it performed very admirably.
