Anyone recently buy any of J&G T53's?

How's the overall condition? Rust? Crappy bores? Crappy stocks? I'm lookin to pick some up but wanted to know if its worth taking a chance as they will be shooters.

    Thanks

I bought one about 2 weeks ago. The first had a decent bore but the stock was really awful and the 2nd had an okay bore, the stock was just very bad. The 3rd one looked okay with several gouges and the bore was better than the other 2 but the bolt was mismatched - I bought it. Cleaning rod was missing, no accessories.

Took it shooting and it shot about as good as my M44 and 91/59 so I'm pleased with it.

I picked up a can of ammo for $90 -- $129 without rifle purchase but they said supply was short so they aren't selling without rifle purchase.

I don't think I'd buy one without being in the store to look at them.

People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

Chinese stuff always seems to have rough stocks. If you get one that has a decent stock, they clean up decently

I have a customer I could probabaly get a type53 off for cheap, think i'll do it. the bayonet rattles and the bore is full of crap but i'm sure it'll shoot. my m44 is more accurate than my 91/30 so what's the worst that could happen?

To me....at $100, it's hardly a gamble. Get one! Even if it's beat to hell, where else can you get a serviceable rifle that shoots a big-boy round for that cheap.

My t53 is my favorite Mosin to shoot. Best trigger by far out of all of them

I bought 3. All were in pretty rough shape. 1 had zero cosmoline on it. It was clean except for a rusty barrel and a water stained stock. I actually sanded and refinished that stock. I almost sent it back. Looks beautiful now, though.
