    Which SKS?

Classic is selling one for $320, looks like Chinese origin. Wideners has a "never issued" Yugo for $400. I'd like one, and can't afford both. Thoughts? Opinions?

Try to find a Russian SKS if you can.

Get the cheaper and put the $80 toward a case of ammo

I've been holding out for a Russian lammy, but its hard to find, so will just get a Chinese one so I have one and if I find a Russian, I'll get it and MAYBE sell the Chinese

If it really is that. Go for it. I bought two at B5 and there great. Should be a 59/66 with an ugly A** Kamiformia brake. Full of cosmo, but clean well and good shooter. Heavily advise you change the firing pin. It hates soft primer (Russian) Wolf.

I have a couple of Yugos 59 without the 66 suffix made prior to the 66 and had no grenade launcher.
Both are good shooters and damned accurate for what they are.

Leaning toward the Classic Chinese SKS.

My understanding is grenade launchers are considered destructive devices in CA and no-go?

Wideners won't sell to anyone in California except for 03 Curio and Relic FFL holders. They won't sell, ship, or transfer to/through a regular FFL either.

I'd get the Yugo except I don't have my C&R

I would go with the Chinese from Classic Firearms. It's a gamble on the condition you'll get but that's kind of half the fun. Some people are concerned that Classic is getting to the bottom of the barrel but last time I checked, they still had 900 rifles in stock. The Yugo unissued ones are cobbled together from parts. If you look closely at the barrel, it's not an M59 but an M59/66 without the grenade launcher. See http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...light=Wideners

Correct, but most Cali Yugos have holes drilled into the grenade launcher to make it a "flash hider".

The Chinese model also has a chrome lined barrel while the Yugo does not.
