It looks like it broke right along the splice line. I am not sure how the proper way to repair it is but here is a link talking about a few ways http://www.survivalistboards.com/sho...d.php?t=134997

Wood glue and a couple of clamps should fix that, it looks like a pretty clean break.

I would drill both pieces for a couple of small dowels and glue it -
I can email you a couple of photos of how I repaired my rifle with a similar break --

That's one of the most common areas to break on a Mosin with a one piece stock. Easy fix because it usually breaks clean and the pieces fit right back together.

Ive made this repair several times in fact just did it on T53. Used Titebond 2 wood glue.

Apply glue, line up pieces perfectly and clamp with a bar clamp. As you clamp the glue will seep out a bit. Wipe excess glue with a damp rag until it stops seeping. Rubber bands wont allow you to clean the glue. This will just leave a slight not too noticeable seam.

I sometimes put a couple 1/8" dowels thru the break but its not necessary

One problem i forget to mention is that these splits usually occur right at the screw.

The Mosin buttplate screws have wide rounded threads that will put outward pressure on the repair. Make sure the hole is clear of dried glue.

You can drill out the screw hole, glue a 1" 3/8 dowel in and redrill the buttplate screwhole to permanently solve that problem if necessary
