Mosin scout mount question

I'm thinking of putting a scout mount on my M91/30,however i've heard that some of those mounts move around some when shooting.
Has that ever happened to any of you, is there a certain brand you'd recomend?

Definitely go with the Darrel mount. They are rock solid and don't move at all.

Just received my Darrell and it is well-made. He is also a gentleman to work with. Don't know if he has any left over from this last batch of mounts but if you're looking for one best contact him now because his stock won't last.

I currently have everything I need to mount a scope onyo my M38, sans mount. I really do want a Darrells, but he doesn't have them in stock at the moment and hasn't stated when he plans for the current batch to be completed.

Beyond tempted to order an S&K at this point so my rifle can be "finished"

Why not just build a replica PU Sniper with a PU scope, better yet buy a Samco scopeless original sniper and build a WW2 PU Sniper?

I personally didn't want to drill and tap the receiver.
Also I liked the idea of scout style, and I enjoy the M38/44 length/weight as opposed to M91.

I'm not opposed to building a replica sniper mind you, I'd just like to build a scout as well to have fun. It's usually cheaper to boot.

I just ordered an M39 Darrel mount today. As stated above he was very pleasant to work with. If his product is as good as his service, I'll be very happy.

So has anyone shot with the Darrel mount today? I tried one that replaces the rear sight and in about 6 shots it was stripped out. So I have been really hesitant of buying another one.

I have an S&K mount on a K98, and it works just fine. You do have to make sure the screws are tight and Loctite doesn't hurt. I use a cheap NcStar 2-7x32 pistol scope just so I can see targets at 100Yds.

I haven't tried the S&K on a Mosin, but feedback I've seen before is split between the S&K and Darrells. You probably can't go wrong with either.

I've heard nothing but good things about his customer service. Might want to shoot him an email and see if he'll make things right with you.

I've used the Darrel mount on one of my M44's and it is rock solid, I've put probably 100 round through it since I installed it, and it is rock solid.

My 91/30 fortunatelt has a dovetail under the original rear sight, so I was able to knock out the pin, remove the rear site, and I found some 1/2" base scope rings that work fine. There aren't any grooves to hold the scope mount in place, so the first time I shot it, the scope moved, but I cleaned the dovetail carefully, put a piece of black duct tape on the top of the dovetail, retightend the rings, and now it stays in place.
