    Bound Book Question

I'm confused. If I purchase a C&R rifle from an out of state dealer and have it mailed to me, do I put their name and address in the book or name and FFL license in the book? The first company sent me a copy of their FFL so I put their name and FFL number but the other two companies didn't send me their FFL numbers.

I believe the book asks for C&R License info. Not 01 FFL info.

Are you saying an FFL sent you a copy of their 01?

Mine says 'Name and Address or FFL# of disposing party'

I've never gotten an 01' FFL, so I record their 'name and address'

So for private parties and 01's, I have their name and address for other 03 holders I have their license number

It says "license number", it does not specify.

I always put name and address, and if they have an FFL, and they provided it to me I put that number as well. 01 FFLs do not always provide a copy, or even the number, but if they do, I include it.

I do the following regardless of whether I'm buying the C&R gun from a dealer, another collector or an individual:

        1) If I have a copy of the seller's FFL, I enter the number and their name. I'm not a records clerk for ATF, so they'll have to look up the address themselves if they want it.

        2) If I don't have a copy of the seller's license, I enter name and address.

Yeah, I went back and looked. It just says 'license number'

I've never had an 01 send me a copy of their license.

I have a couple times, and others, the FFL# is printed on the invoice.

That's the confusion. It says name and license but I don't know if they mean FFL or driver's license. The first one I bought from, Robertson Trading Post, just sent me a copy of their FFL and I recorded it. The 2nd and 3rd which was Century Arms and AIM did not send me any FFL information. Some FFLs don't like to share their FFL number from what I heard but I don't want to get in trouble with the feds.

You have two choices. You can put their name and address or their name and FFL number.

For those of you getting the seller's FFL number off of the invoice, double check that it's not your FFL number on the invoice. I think it's J & G Sales that put's the buyer's FFL number at the top of the invoice. Some other's might as well.

That is what I do. Usually go with name and FFL number. It's faster.

On my J&G invoices on the top left it has their letterhead with their info and at the bottom of that block of text is their FFL.

On the right side at the top it says Invoice and then below that it says Customer and at the bottom of that block of text is your FFL.

                    So it has both.

                      ^ This.

When ATF refers to license number or licensee, they are referring to a FFL.
When they are referring to a drivers license or other ID, they specifically mention it as such.
