Good to know. I just found a whole 50 cal can of the stuff while I was sorting through my bonus room (we use it as a storage room ).

Well if you want the M1's you might want to get cracking with the CMP. Rumor earlier this week (I think it was this week... days run together with newborn at home) was that there were still National Postal Meter available in SG. So you've got the remnants of the last sale(s) and what is coming up in July for carbines. Your C&R and membership in an affilliated club (I recommend the GCA if you are not a member of a club already and need to join) will get you eligible. And there is the notary thing you need to do too... It sounds like a pain but is well worth it.

So another "golden age" of carbines at CMP may be winding down. Still lots of Garands but you're looking at a 2-3 month wait there. I've been very pleased with the 2 SG Garands I have received in the past year.

K31 prices keep going up but that is a great rifle for the money. With all the surplus drying up in 303 and 8mm, the Swiss rifle looks a lot more attractive. If I'm going to spend money on new commercial ammo, I'd rather shoot the K31 than a Mauser or Enfield.

Anyhow you can't go wrong with your 3 choices but I'd get busy if you want a carbine and the K31 prices have gone up a large amount percentage-wise in the past 12 months or so.

Russian SKS is another one to put on the back burner and wait for the right deal. I got one pretty cheap a couple months ago.

As far as having the COE in addition to the C&R, do you have to provide copies of your COE as well.

            Thanks,

I do not have one yet, but I believe that yes you would if it were something that you would need it for.

Not in CA. You'll still have to DROS and wait. Cash and carry in AZ, though.

That is stupid. If they were to offer it for sale online, they could ship it to my door. I am talking long guns here. So if I walk into a store and say find an M-1 on a rack, could I just tell them to ship it to my address? If so, what is the difference between that and just picking it up? What about when I am out of state say in Nevada?

Welcome to the club, please step away from the Credit Cards.

The BATFE should have sent you the state law booklet. I highly recommend reading the California section, at the least, to familiarize yourself with what you can and can't do. Trouble sleeping? Read a little right before bed, you'll sleep like a baby.

Guns are not the problem, online vendors such as Midway and Brownell's is the problem. I saved enough on my first order to pay for getting licensed twice.

I think S.O.G. had a good price on K31's in their June flyer. Somewhere around here there is posted a big list of all the C&R vendors with addresses you would want to send a copy of your FFL to.

When it comes to Garands and ammo, CMP is your friend.

Make all entries into your bound book a.s.a.p.
There is no such thing as too much information on an entry, only not enough.

Free states are where your C&R will really shine.

Absolutely. I use the one on surplusrifle.com. Here's the link to it. http://www.surplusrifle.com/graphics/boundbookpage.pdf

I just print them out and put them in plastic top loading page protectors, inside a 3-ring binder. A fine point pen makes it easier to write inside the little boxes. The nice thing about the page protectors is that you can slip other paperwork behind the bound page. This makes it easy to keep copies of FFL's, licenses, and Dros for each firearm transaction.

You can also order them from Brownells for $3.00
http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/sto...RECORD%20BOOKS Unless you are planning on buying more than 440 firearms you will only need one.

As far as California gun laws go. If you're still looking for logic just stop, you won't find any.

I like that one even better than the one that I found online. I think I am going to use it. Though instead of a binder, I was going to bind it at the office with the spiral binder. I may have to reconsider that though being that I like your idea about shoving the extra papers and info in there.

Yeah I never expected to find logic in there. Can someone who is a little more familiar with this area of law point me in the direction of what I should read that most affects the C&R stuff? I will eventually read through everything just because I try to pride myself in being on top of the laws and it is so much better having it printed out in front of me than reading it on the computer.
