    It came today!!!!

I finally got around to checking my mail about 15 minutes ago and found that my C&R finally came today! I was totally stoked. I threw it on the copy machine and am busy sending copies to the various places. Now I am trying to decide what I will buy in celebration.

I am thinking maybe a Garand or a M1 Carbine if I can find one for the right price. Or maybe an Enfield or K-31. All four are on my list to get. The budget is a bit tight right now because I am going back to school for a masters degree in the fall so that will play into it.

I can relate. I'd go with the Enfield or K98, if you don't already have some. Ammo still relatively cheap for them.

I'm waiting for my C&R. Should be any time now. My first purchase is going to be a Garand. I've been making up too many excuses up until now.

Of these choices, the M1 Carbine is one of my favorite to shoot (the wife and friends love it too!), and the K-31 is my 'sniper' rifle - very accurate with an awesome trigger for a mil-surp.

If you do get a K98, get the Huber Concepts trigger ($55 dealer cost at Brownells). It made a world of difference on mine.

Get a Garand or Carbine, if you put it off they're only going to go up in price (Anyone notice they've jumped up about 25% in the last 4-5 years). For a budget I would snag something from the CMP like a Field Grade Garand or a Rack grade Carbine.

If money is tight, maybe consider an M39 with a mil surplus tin of ammo that'll last about a decade or so lol

Great choices on M1's and K-31. You can't go wrong with any of those.

                        Enfield ammo cheap?

My advice is to plan your purchases. Don't just buy something "because you can." Don't buy a lot of cheap rifles with the idea you can resell them later at anything other than a loss. Shop smart. (Shop S-Mart! )

I haven't bought ammo for mine in a long while.

Yes. Surplus is near impossible to find now and commercial is well over $1/round. That alone prompted me to sell my Savage No 4 last year.
