Mosin Barrel Removal

Hey guys, I picked up a Mosin receiver and barrel a while ago that has been collecting dust for a while. The person that owned it before decided that it would be a good I idea to chop down the barrel with a hack saw and needless to say I have a stumpy chewed up barrel on an otherwise nicely blued refurbed receiver. I think its time to breath new life into it, I have all the parts needed to craft together a complete rifle but the only thing holding me back is removing the barrel from the receiver. I haven't been able to find anyone in the area that deals with barrel removal on C&R's like Mosins. Is there a way that I could attempt to the remove the barrel? Have any of you ever done this yourselves? What were your techniques?

I looked into it but it was cost prohibitive. The action wrench and bench vice were over $200. Then you need to worry about proper headspace and existing sight alignment (assuming you're installing a used barrel). That requires milling of the threaded end with precision. At that point, I gave in and had a local gunsmith do it. Cost me $40 as the replacement barrel headspaced perfectly and the sights were aligned properly but that was pure chance.

Care to add a little caption on those pictures? The barrel vise is self explanatory. However, for the other vise with handle attached, I take it it is milled to the exact profile of the Mosin receiver? I would interest to what method you used to extract the exact profile of the receiver.

it was a receiver wrench made to fit lots of receivers . just welded 2 nuts to make it fit the lug on mosins

Does anyone know a gunsmith or certified FFL license holder that remove Mosin barrels? I've called a few gunsmith shops in the OC area and none of them seem to deal with alterations.
