    James River restorations?

Anybody ever use them? prices don't look real bad, had a friend send his M1 Garand to them and he likes it but he lives in AZ so I can't check it out, I've been thinking of sending my M1 carbine to them for a restore.
BTW its a import not a CMP or bring back

$349? No thanks. My comments in italics.

    $349.00

    What we will do:
    • Upon receipt of your weapon we will disassemble and inspect all parts. Worn or unsafe small components will be replaced with (possibly) non-USGI parts. Major parts needing replacement will require your prior approval (barrel, slide, etc.).
    • Metal parts will be bead blasted and parkerized in original correct finish, whether they need refinishing or not. A new not-USGI American Black Walnut Stock Set will be prepared and [fake] cartouched to correspond to the serial number of your weapon; just like when it was originally made. (They didn't use fake cartouches when it was originally made).
    • Once all parts are reassembled and installed in the new furniture your gun will be test fired to assure proper cycling and function.
    Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

Wonder if there is a place locally that could parkerize it? finish is worn but its a great shooter. I have over 2000+ rounds of 30 carbine.

I have seen their guns, they do nice work but just realize that if you send your gun to them, it will lose any and all collector value.

If you just want Parkerizing http://shuffsparkerizing.com/services/parkerizing/ will do it for $125. Turn-around time is often less than a week, probably faster than you can get it locally.

collector value is really a relative thing. and besides, unless the garand in question is something really unique or special in a very special and unique way, garands are shooters. I wouldn't ever chop one of mine up and tankerize it, or sporterize it, or whatever, but keeping it a "garand" albeit with new parts and finish and stock and what not I don't think hurts it at all. in fact, I've got one (of my two) that I plan to send out soon, with as always, $$$ the issue.

I think people primarily buy garands to shoot. I'd think a collector gun would never see a range.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.
