Mosin Bolt Problem

After a rd. is fired, I can pull the bolt right out of the receiver when ejecting the spent rd. When I first got the rifle rearward movement stops unless the trigger is depressed.

Im assuming it is a spring that needs replacement.

Anyone have any guidance? Thanks in advance.

The spring is in the trigger group and its a simple leaf spring - it might not be screwed in tight.

The raised part on top of the trigger is the bolt stop. That part catches the connecting rod of the bolt to stop it from pulling out. If you pull the trigger forward it should catch the bolt whether the sear screw is tight or not. Might just be a floppy trigger

Check the sear screw, might be that. But some mosins just have a very floppy trigger that wont fully reset. You can get one of the trigger springs that people sell if its that bad

if you bought it used somebody might have put a shim under the sear. this gives it a lighter trigger pull.

Trigger spring bolt stop screw was loose. Put on a drop of Blue Locktite, re-installed and everything is back to normal.

learn some manners and act like an adult for pete's sake. he asked a simple question and i'm pretty sure he's not airdropping into Afghanistan with this thing or defending his family from the invading horde. i'd expect this kind of d**kishness in an AR or Glock forum, not the C&R area. you'd think he'd asked about sporterizing an SS marked K98 or something...lighten up or take some pills or something. better yet, if you're going to be prick, just don't post. at least Musick has a sense of humor and uses it.
