MilSurp Match @ Modesto August 3rd

Here is an easy match to start out the month. Shot at 100 and 200 yards reduced targets total of 40 rounds. Front rest and rear bag allowed and no FMJ restriction like the silhouette match. Basically a bench rest match for MilSurp rifles. So dust off your rifle and bring it out. Perfect to test out a load as it is on paper.

I'm sure Harry and Bob will represent the Folsom Shooting Club and harass the Modesto Rifle Club shooters. I'll be there and will try not to embarrass myself too much with a poor score.

Where exactly is this? I may come out if I don't have to work. I have a Longbranch to try out...

Might try to make this one. Will there be time to sight in rifles before the match? Iron sights and scopes?

Laid back and nice match -- $10 line fee is nice too! And lots of it comes back as awards.
Great breakfast spot at the NW corner of Tully & Standiford before the match too. Load up some bullet ballast for a steady sight picture.

There are ten-minutes for unlimited sighters before each range string.

Iron or scope OK. Come shoot scope...I need company. "As issued" class, "match sights" and "scope" -- all bench.

Cool. So I could do both irons and scoped? M1 garand and 91/30 refurb sniper? What time do the festivities kick off?

That would be nice if you can come and shoot your Longbranch. The link Bob posted will point you to a place in the middle of a field. Go to google map and put 1009 Patterson Road Modesto anf switch to satellite. You can see the range to the 11 o'clock of the red dot. Just follow that dirt road and it will dead end on the range.

No just one rifle at a time as there is only one relay. Unlike the silhouette match at Sac Valley where there are three relays and you could shoot two different rifles and some of us shoot two rifles in one match. Bring your 91/30 sniper and you will clean house. Be there by 8:00-8:15 to sign up and get your bench.

I highly doubt that. I know ll to well that I'm far from the level of most of you guys on here. Willing to give it a go though.

Thanks for the info. Trying to convince my sisters boyfriend to come along.

Sounds like fun. I might bring my son for his 22nd birthday. We would both likely shoot Garands with HXP ammo so doubtful we would be much of a threat.
