    Mosin scope Info needed

I bought an original scope from a fellow Calgunner a while back. I just got a mounting screw set from Mother Russia. It also came with what I assume are alignment pins. I looked closely at an original rifle the gentlemen had that I purchased the scope from but I didn't notice the pins. Looked on the net with no luck also. The pins are oversive to the holes in the mount also. I suppose my question is if they were used originally, or if not are they needed?

    Thanks for anyone's insight.

    Used originally, and needed.
Easiest way I did it was to locate the mount, drill and install the rear pin to hold the mount in place, then use it for a drill jig to drill the front pin hole. The pins are a press fit in the receiver, so if you use the right size drill, they should tap in with a brass hammer.
Now it's in place, and you have a jig for the screw holes.

I forgot to ask. Were the pins in blind holes or all the way through the receiver?

      Thanks Again

I drilled mine through. Getting that first pin in the right spot, dictates how the rest is going to sit. It more or less centers in the slot for the stripper clip. Lucky for us, the Russians added a lot of room for error with the mount adjustments.
Maybe 6mmintl will chime in here with some installation tips, he's done way more than I have.
