Chinese Type 56 and tapco 10 round mag

Leaving the 922r discussion off the table for now, can I use tapco 10-round removable magazines with my chinese type 56 carbine?

I've looked at the flow chart, and have phrased the question above with that in mind.

    Let me know.

    Thanks!

EDIT: Added carbine to the statement above.

If it's an akm I believe it's banned by name, if it's an sks variant then no detachable mags. But I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm mistaken.

I wouldn't do it.. I would leave it in its original configuration.

So confused... you're talking about a Chinese-made AK of some sort. If it's got a mag lock then you can only use 10 round (or less) magazines. If it's not mag locked then you can use any magazine you want BUT you must be featureless with regards to the flowchart.

Same answer as for any semiauto centerfire rifle.

In my, albeit limited, experience with the law, there is specificity with language.

After looking at your link, it seems that if the rifle is marked SKS anywhere, then the detachable magazine is illegal.

However, if it is not marked SKS, then what?

Then take your chances and try to explain to someone that your type 56 is not an sks.I agree with what you are saying, but rather spend money on ammo than attorney fees.

I get that. Was curious if this has ever been adjudicated or otherwise challenged.

Don't know if it has. The type 56 that I have was labeled sks along with import marks.

Unless you make the Tapco mag Fixed or buy the fixed Tapco Mag. I have a fixed Tapco Magazine on mine at this time.

You want to know the truth?

They'll arrest you first and let the DA sort out what to charge you with.

You can argue in court, but not at the roadside when they freak at the sight of a rifle with a magazine in it.
