    Brownells Mauser Front Sight Blank

So I have a Yugo M48 that is shooting much too high and will need to be zeroed at 100 yards. I am using the Mojo Micro Click rear sight (which I love!) and it is already as low as it can get without modifying the sight. So now I figure I need to replace the front sight with a blank and file it down until I achieve the 100 yard zero.

My question is, has anyone used the blanks that Brownells sells? Has anybody gone through this before? How much fitting may be required to get it to sit in the dove tail correctly?

I really want to avoid messing with JB weld on the original front sight if I can avoid it. I also wouldent mind just using the blank as a Partridge style front sight, nice and square.

Any info you guys can provide is greatly appreciated!

I think 6mmintl may have some experience with them.

I keep meaning to find mine and isntall it to my 98k. I also want to make the V notch into a U notch which works better with a front square blade, IMO. (The K-31 and the M-39 and the Swede are proof enough for me over the barleycorns).

I have replaced 10-15 Mauser sights with these, requires lots of fitting but the finished product is a better sight picture.

Dove tail needs to be cleaned up, height needs to be determined and post ground or milled to height, base of sight needs to be ground or filed to fit.

I mill my heights and file dovetails to fit, recutting the V notch on rear sight is best to match front square post but go slowly with fine rat tail file.
