Possible VZ 23

I got a VZ23 (or what appears to be a VZ23) over the weekend. Been looking for one of these for a while

These VZ-23's were only made for one year befor the Czechs started making the VZ-24. They are fairly hard to find and I'm hoping that this one is all matching.

From the pictures, I can see that the stock, hand guard and rear sight leaf all match the serial number. hoping the rest of the parts do also.

Not sure. I got it by submitting an absentee bid to an auction in the mid-west. It will probably be a week or more before I see it.

Well that is an interesting piece.

It looks shorter than the VZ24. Is that true?

Supposed to be 1.75" shorter. So friggin cool. Hopefully it's not import marked! And matching. That'd be the best score ever!

Very interesting front sling band. This is a mauser that you do not see every day.

The VZ-23 arrived at my FFL and I got a chance to look it over before it went into the safe for the 10 day "cooling off" period.

It is partially matching...the upper band, handguard, stock, bottom metal, and sight all match. The floor plate and bolt do not. The bolt is a a "G" series bolt.

Bore looks great...sharp rifling and shiny.
