    Just got my COE

I just got my COE and am surprise to find out that it is simply a certificate printed on a piece of plain printer paper. For as many hoops as this state is making us jump thru, it would have been nice for them to make this look any less official.

They were on heavier weight color paper. Now, it looks like a copy on 20# copy paper.

Just to pour salt on the wound, I also find it ironic that the certificate says "As of the date of issue, there is nothing that would prohibit the individual from acquiring or possessing a firearm."

And yet, except C&R, I still can't buy a long gun with another $25 DROS tax and 10 days wait for a pistol.

Sorry, kinda got fed up with the CA.

Gotta love the crap that our legislators keep shoveling at us. It's all back door gun control, not safety. Never has been, never will be.

I'm wondering if there is language in that Ammunition Purchase License Bill that will accept a COE?

And, yes, I would complain if I were hanged with a gold rope!

                I'm already well hung.

Sorry to thread jack, but I'm in the process of filling out my c&r license.

Should I go ahead and turn in my coe as well? Is there any charge for it?

The COE will likely cost you over $90 for a first time applicant

You really have good sense of humor. When was the last time DOJ does any services for free.

Yep, almost a $100 for the first time applicant, depending on where you get your live scan. $22 for each subsequent year.

Here is a list complied by some one else on this forum that outlines how COE can be of use.

                        Buying from a 01 Dealer:
                        C&R license - within CA - rifle = 01 Dealer DROS – 10-day wait
                        C&R license - within CA - handgun = 01 Dealer DROS – 10-day wait – Must have HSC
                        C&R license and COE - within CA - rifle = 01 Dealer DROS – No 10-day wait
                        C&R license and COE - within CA - handgun = 01 Dealer DROS – No 10-day wait/No 1 handgun per 30 day limit

Buying from a Private Party in CA:
C&R license - within CA - rifle = Cash and carry
                        C&R license - within CA - handgun = 01 Dealer DROS – 10-day wait – Must have HSC
C&R license and COE - within CA - rifle = Cash and carry
                        C&R license and COE - within CA - handgun = 01 Dealer DROS – No 10-day wait/No 1 handgun per 30 day limit

                        Buying Outside CA:
C&R license - physically outside CA - rifle = Cash and carry - no CA paperwork
C&R license - physically outside CA - handgun = Cash and carry – Must submit DOJ paperwork and $19 fee
C&R license - physically inside CA - rifle = Rifle shipped to your door
                        C&R license - physically inside CA - handgun = 01 Dealer DROS – 10-day wait – Must have HSC
C&R license and COE - physically outside CA - rifle = COE irrelevant outside CA – See above
C&R license and COE - physically outside CA - handgun = COE irrelevant outside CA – See above
C&R license and COE - physically inside CA - rifle = Rifle shipped to your door
                        C&R license and COE - physically inside CA - handgun = 01 Dealer DROS – No 10-day wait/No 1 handgun per 30 day limit

Thanks for the info. Is coe required for c&r license in 2014?

I looked at the form today. Thinking about what you pay for what you get is a good way to make your blood pressure rise.

Is there any length we wont go to to exercise a right that people in most states take utterly for granted?

If you have a CCW and get your live scan and a rerun every two years do you still have to file for a COE?
