    Russian SKS at Aegis

If anyone is interested - I saw a very nice Russian SKS on sale at Aegis Trading in Burbank today while doing a PPT.
Not a steal, by any stretch, but beats paying for out-of-state transfer fees for those without FFL03 if you really want the original.
They listed it originally for $900. but now it is $600.
Who knows, since they already discounted it that much, maybe there is some more give.

    Good luck!

PM me your requests for Russian AK optics - Obzor, Kashtan, Rakurs, POSP, etc.

Geez, what are they using as their pricing guidelines - the Calguns marketplace?

Really? Considering the beaters we're buying for $350 or so, 600 doesn't seem outrageous to me.

It isn't 1992 anymore. And my rent in '92 was $150 a month! LOL! Granted, that was a deal, I had been paying $250

$600 is a fair price for a matching Russian in good condition. Just about all non-bubba'd SKS variants are hitting $400 and higher.

I might get flamed for saying this, but even though the Russian was the first SKS, it isn't significantly better in quality than other variants. The only 'bad' SKS's are the ones hacked up by Bubba

No reason to flame this statement, IMHO. I am a happy owner of a hand-picked Chinese SKS from the latest Classic batch, in addition to the Russians I own.
To me the Russian SKS is mostly sentimental value (comes from the Motherland and all), and the fact that it is "the original, accept no substitutes" - with production supervised by Comrade Simonov himself (hopefully).
That would be like original Colt 1911 and all the later variants.

Plus, to me Russian ones just look better. Most of the early Chinese look like they been to hell and back, and later Norinco ones just look to new, with no history to them. Nothing C&R about them.
The Yugo ones are nice, but their barrels are not chromed, and are heavier(plus I don't like Yugo wood).
Mr. Ricigliano's Romanian is very pretty - I would not mind owning one.
            Again - just my opinion.

yep, the Russians just look prettier, more serious or something. barely perceptible, but it's there. quality-wise though, the quality is more in the design than the manufacture, although pretty much all of them seem to be made well. i'd choose Russian, Romanian, or early Chinese before i'd go with any others aside from the Albanian, which I'm still kicking myself for not buying for 350. outrageous right? oh well, it's happened to all of us at some point.
