I hope you got your great shooter, it sounds like a nice one. Man I wish I had my C&R, I would order one of those I'm a heartbeat. I should have it before the end of the year so we'll see what deals are to be had then.

That looks like one of those police sniper rifles...very nice! That stock sure pops! How is that muzzle break?

I see you're using the gp11 ammo as well.

originally they were produced for the military but only a a service life of a couple years, that's when they all were sent to the police. This one was manufactured in 1958, its in 95% + condition but the stock was an armory replacement. I shoot GP11 and my own reloads, everything I feed it seems to find the target. Very heavy, its much beefier than a K31 and has a bull barrel. With the unique brake on the muzzle plus the weight, its like shooting an under powered .308

I've seen one of those things at the end of the barrel when I was at an adult store.

I bet that is not close to an accuracy of a $90 sub MOA Mosin.

I have 6 Swiss rifles but I warn you, my Finn Mosins are all 1/2 MOA. My 89$ Mosin is a bit rough but with Josh Smith's front sight, Juanito could shoot 1 MOA all day. He just refuses because he is a racist against my Russian friends.

As to the Swiss, pick a good barrel. They are getting harder to find and more expensive but a very good barrel can outshoot most of us on the line. Reloading is a bit more precise because there is no cam action on bolt closing but that can be worked out in the first hundred or so.

The real problem is the Swiss rifles are so good, you won't find anyone that will listen to your miss excuses. They just don't work so you are hanging out there. Buy a Mosin and you can always say "I am working on it and it will soon be 1 MOA."

I picked up a k31 not to long ago. took a few shots to get familiar with the trigger but really like it. I think I will add a 96/11 or k11 so she won't be so lonely in the safe. You know how it goes, you get two and then they really start to multiply there in the dark.

A ZfK55 has no muzzle brake, it is a flash hider only.
A muzzle brake deflects the gasses that force out the bullet backward so the rifle is pulled forward resulting in less recoil. The ZfK55 has less recoil because of it's higher overall weight.

Guisan, Although I understand that its only a flashhider, I think it exhibits muzzle brake like characteristics. In my profession, I've shot dozens of brake equipped tactical rifles, my ZFK acts much the same. I could be all wet but I'll stick to my guns on this one!

Ford, I admit that I suck at shooting and never claimed to be a good shooter. I could use the help of a world class master shooter like Josh Smith. From what Josh Smith said, he can turn a $90 Mosin into a sub MOA rifle. He also "promise" to beat any Mauser. This is a phenomenal achievement. I'm sure he has lots of secret that he is keeping to himself and I can understand if he is not willing to share them. It also helps that he is a world class master shooter in the level of David Tubb and all. He is just being humble but he probably have lots of National Matches medals on his wall using a $90 Mosin.

It would be nice if Josh Smith could share with us all his outstanding shooting kills and technics so we all could learn from this wold class shooter and turn us mortal shooters into a semi decent shot.

Now that is something I didn't know. I thought that female sexual instrument looking thing on the end of Bob's rifle is a nuzzle break/compenstor. Learn something everyday.

Not Lat, but I know him well. He's at a Motocross Race out of town today.
Maybe I can shed some light. Look at the thickness of the wall on this brake.

the 23 degree angle on these ports and the bearing area of each port effectively push the rifle forward, thereby reducing both real and felt recoil.

Now look at the dispersion ports on your 55 flash hider.

Note that they're ported straight in with very little bearing surface at all. This is for maximum dispersion, but has no effect on either the forward or rearward thrust of the rifle.
Nice looking 55 you have there.

                          Shoot safely and........ stay low.

                            I Got My Swiss!!!

Here are a couple of pics of my new K31. It was made in 1943 and is in good condition with all numbers matching. The bore is bright and shiny and it has a nice walnut stock with several dings, no cracks that I have seen yet. I picked it up this afternoon so I have only had time to give it a quick going over and wipe down. I'll give it a full cleaning and going over later in the week. I'll take better pics too once I get her cleaned up.

Shoot it without the flash hider (carefull with removing the locking ring) and you won't notice a difference in recoil.
