You can also make cases out of .30-06 brass. And you can use .311"-.313" bullets, which are readily available. Or you can just buy the brass from Grafs. And while yours is a "Last Ditch", it isn't as last ditch as it could be. At that point, they were taking production short cuts, but not quality ones. The steel still received a very, very good heat treatment, and all of the machining in the critical areas was done correctly. I have seen some 1945 ones that looked like they had borrowed the bolts from Frankenstein's neck to finish the bolt handles.

Yea, the bolt handle looks like it's been machined, and I can't see how the safety looks. The bolt probably doesn't match the rifle.

Check out this video, you have nothing to worry about shooting it. Wikipedia says the Arisaka action is stronger than the 1903 and Mauser. Enjoy.
