Garand butt stock storage

Does anyone know what typically went there and where? I have this two compartment plastic tube thing. I believe one half is for oil and the other half to store a pull through bore cleaner. This tube just fills the bottom hole. I thought a USGI M3A1 combo tool would fit in the top hole. I think it might fit except mine hangs up on the stuck case extractor thingy. Maybe the holes in Boyd's stocks are a tiny bit undersize. I was wondering what originally was intended to be carried in the two holes. Thanks.

Great link Brink. Thanks. The CMP had some good info as well. It looks like the M10 tool fits no problem - even inside the two compartment oiler.. The upper hole is about 1/16" too narrow to allow the M3A1 to slide in.
