    M39 front sight adjustment

I'll be taking my M39 out for the first time this week and was wondering the front sight is adjusted on an M39. I see that is has a screw head on each side and one in the back. The one in the back appears to be a set screw.

Is it as simple as loosening the set screw and screwing the ones on the side then resetting the rear one?

I looked on Surplusrifle.com but I didn't find anything about the M39's front sight. I did, however, find out that Mosin's do have a safety, which I had not previously known

    Thanks!

I think that 's right, to adjust side to side. To adjust height you'll need to either file it down or order a taller front sight depending on which way you need to adjust. TGP makes a tall front sight to lower the POI.

Yeah, the safety is pretty simple, just twist the cocking piece of the bolt to lock.

Turns out that it's even easier than I thought. You just loosen the screw on the side you want to move the sight to, then tighten the other side to slide it.
      Simple and effective.

I'm being lazy here but what's the adjustment for windage with the front sight?

For example, my rifle shoots left...do you move the sight left to compensate?

          simple rule of sight movement.

          Front Opposite
          Rear Same

If your rifle shoots left you move the front sight to the right.
