    Garand help needed.

    Hi fellas.

I have a Garand that try's to eject the en bloc with 2 or 3 rounds left in the en bloc.

NOTE: If I shoot from a mechanical rest. The problem arises dam near every time.
If I shoot standing. It rarely happens.

I am using Greek en blocks. Some Greek ammo and some 150 gr home brews.
Have tried old school USGI en blocs. As well as tossing the en blocks into my dillon polisher for an hour to smooth the clips finish. None of that seems to make a difference.
The ammo I use does not seem to make any difference. Nor the enblocs.

    Hence the conundrum.

Can you fellas give me a suggestion of where to start?

    Thanks in advance.

Ditto on Orlando's advice. Also, the Greek en blocs are known to be difficult.

BTW, The Greeks never made any enblocks. Early on in the 60s they used USGI mostly Borg Warner, International Silver and even SA. Later around the 70s they went with some German IIRC Dane clips. The worse move the Greeks did is using the French made SF clips found on HXP80 ammo.

Before you start buying parts I would do the following. Check all your clips and cull SF clips as they are junk. Next do a full tear down and inspect, clean and lube all required parts. Make sure the clip latch pin is not kinked as it can cause binding in the latch. In addition, make sure the spring itself is free and in good condition. Reassemble and test fire with HXP or USGI ball M2. If the problem persist, replace the clip latch spring and test fire again.

From my experience, out of several Garand that had premature clip ejection most was linked to out of spec clip or kinked pin. You could very well have a weak spring.

            Holy cow.

You fellas are sending me in the right direction.
I will check out ALL the links and advice given.

Me thinks it will be several weeks before I get back out to the range.
I will report back with my findings.

            And thank you.

I had the same problem. Replaced the clip latch spring and the problem was solved.

I had the same problem, but just pitched my SF clips and was good to go.

I had the same problem, I had to replace the clip latch, replacing the spring did not help. See if your rifle will hold an empty clip securely.
