USGI M1 Carbines were all made during World War II and are C&R. However, commercial companies made M1 Carbines after World War II, including at the present time. Those carbines are not C&R unless they are at least 50 years old.

M1A1 Carbines with a folding stock are classified as "assault weapons" in California and are banned. If SB 374 becomes law all M1 Carbines would be classified as "assault weapons".

    Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

One of my favorite rifles. I own some in my collection and wish I had more.

Fun as heck to shoot and easy to reload to keep costs down.

Milsurp is correct with his advice. Get the old ones now while you can. Most of the new ones are junk though there may be exceptions.
