    Hoppe's Ethen Allen

    Hello all:

I just had a nephew of mine hand me a box of Ethan Allen pepperbox pistol's, there are three of them but non of which are compleat and none that have all of their parts.

he asked if I could finish building them. I know that these were kit guns from the 70's and 80's and not worth much at all. But I told him that I would see what I could do.

So far I have not had much luck on finding any parts for them. I do have the ability to fab parts, but sure would rather find a source and just get the parts if I could.

so my question to you all is. Dose anyone know of any sources for getting parts for these things?

    Thanks all

If you can get us pictures and stuff, we can properly ID them and figure out exactly what parts are appropriate to them.

oh wow that's a neat looking thing!

Have you checked out Dixiegunworks? They sell these still and might have access to spare parts.

I did a little googling and found that these pistols are kind of a tinkerer's toy as they don't work too well after initial assembly.

a schematics would be nice. but they are 36 caliber blackpowder kits from the 70's and 80's. I know that they need two barrels, one barrel shaft, two hands, three blocks, all three need the barrel retaining screws and side plate screws, cap nipples for all three barrels a total of 18, and one pair of grips.

thanks for the tip. I will check them out.

I bought one of the pepperbox kits from Dixie but haven't put it together yet. So far, well, it looks like a kit but from what I can tell is rather different than the 3 you have there. I'm not sure how much of it will be applicable for you. It's worth a shot though.

You say none of them are complete, can you build one complete gun from the existing parts? That would at least tell you what you are missing and what it looks like. From there you could potentially get a machine shop to make some one off pieces.

I am close on one of them but there are still parts missing from it as well, and I do have machining equipment, Ie mill and laith, so I can make the part, if I really need to. but I sure would much rather just find them.
